the theory that 'cold weather will kill all the germs!' Ha! A likely story. It's colder than it's ever been and everybody I know has some kind of virus that's going around.

Is it cold in your home, work, where you shop...no & that's where germs spread.

@Judaline. There are more colds and viruses in winter than at any other times of year.

Huh? There never was a theory that cold weather would kill germs or viruses because that would be ridiculous. Actually viruses spread easier in cold weather because people spend more time inside with other people.

I thought the saying was cold weather kills insects

It's cold and flu season. We spend more time indoors around more people than outside in the fresh air. It's seems to also be RSV and COVID season.

Hahaha! I've never heard either, that cold weather kills germs or insects. How about feed a cold, starve a fever. I am a strange one, in that I can almost always eat, no matter how sick. Even when I have a stomach bug, my appetite is always there.

@Judaline ............Its inside in enclosed buildings that the germs are, not outside. Used to be in the spring people would open windows and doors and the inside would be "aired" out, and those without AC would have them open all summer, hence not much illness in the summers. But with everyone using AC now the germs and bacteria just stay inside and multiply and people are ill all year around.

During Covid, they did tell us that the coming cold weather would slow down the spread, it did not. I don't believe @Judaline dreamed up that statement. I know my doctor's office is always freezing and I have to wear a sweater even in our hot, hot, hot summers. The doctor told me that the spread of germs is much slower in cold temperatures so they keep the air on and low. And from someone in SC where bugs are prolific, the cold doesn't kill them either. I think they just hibernate until they can attack when it starts getting warm again.

@Kachina624 I agree. Kids go back to school and college, Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays gatherings and kids coming home bring all the germs w/ them.
