I would tell them I needed a day to grab my personal items and I wouldn't look back.  In fact, I would love for that to happen.  Of course I would need to be paid fairly for both house and furnishings.  Honestly, all that I have is easily replaceable.  My personal items, I.e. photos and jewelry, are going with me.

Just say No.

Already sold one home exactly that way.

I'll hold out for an 'original' idea.

What causes some to keep and hold items all the way to the grave?

Only for those left behind to toss the items into the trash because they have their own stuff.....and do not want your stuff.

There are a few items with a lot of sentimental value you should definitely keep.

You need to ask yourself if you want to start over redecorating.   When I moved into my new home I left my dinning set and bedroom set.  I have replaced them with things I love HOWEVER  it is not that easy.  Trying to find stuff you like and can afford is not that easy.

Try and project ahead a few months and how you will feel without your furniture, books etc. around you.

Let us know what you decide.  Best of Luck.

I'd sell the whole kaboodle ... lock, stock and barrel ... then ask for an early closing date, so they wouldn't change their minds.

They make us smile when we remember their associations, from where they came, from whom they came. To some, things are not just things.

More then likely...kiss them.

Maybe we still have a little Egyptian in our souls.

Funny you should ask.  Just the other day I was thinking about how much I have let my "things" rule my life.  The things I hold dearest are in my heart & memory.  I thought my books & music CDs were keepers, but there isn't anything I can't get from the library or listen to on a radio station.  My goal for closing out 2015 is to thoughtfully & realistically choose what I really need to live & get rid of the rest.
