Seriously? People are buying this.
‎01-12-2015 12:04 AM
Yes, people are buying it but they're not trudging off with the entire pig leg. If you can find it, it's usually sold by the slice. It's often used as an accent to a dish for the flavor. Kind of like not sitting down and eating an entire tin of caviar at one sitting, but as an accent.

I'm too cheap to spend my money on something like this. Also, my diet is mostly plant based, except during a few holidays, so I guess that's a good thing considering the price of this item.

I see nothing wrong with spending this amount of money on it if you want to and enjoy the ham. I find those who criticize often think nothing of spending what other may consider exorbitant amounts on items that other may find frivolous or silly -- such a clothing, jewelry, beauty products, or accessories. Personally, I would rather enjoy the ham (if I ate ham).

KYToby, you're right. I hope my post didn't imply there was something wrong with spending the amount for the ham. I just meant I'm too cheap to do it and I'm not much of a meat eater.
CLEM, no offense was intended by my reply to your original post. While I might not spend money on this ham, I do spend on other things, like the $1600 I spent on a saddle a few years ago. And I've got 3 saddles and only 1 horse! We all spend on what's important to us.

Again no offense to you. BUT for ME 100 and some dollars a pound for HAM? Id never pay that! I don't even pay $7.50 a pound. lol. I used to work in supermarket management. We didn't carry that, but Id say that's a rip off!
And they talk about gas prices? Geesh.

I don't really care for ham, but I'd never pay that for a small amount of any food or food product!

If I wanted it that bad and that long, I would so be down there tomorrow with a twenty in my hand. Life is short.
I like ham and I have tasted this type in Spain and it wasn't my thing. But you get yourself down there, ya hear?

OP, you can get it much cheaper than that. Do a bit of investigating online. There's a place listed in Cambridge, Massachusetts that has it for $25.95 for a 1/4 pound. Also amazon has it for $14.99 for 3 ounces. Be a wise shopper.
