@2blonde Leaving work and hopping in the Fiat now to drive up I-95! ![]()
Actually, my entire family lives in PA (I grew up across the river in NJ) and they will cut me in if they win or they raised me to take care of business.

It depends on if you just picked four winning numbers,
five winning numbers,
four numbers PLUS the Powerball number,
five PLUS the Powerball number.
******************************************************************************
For California the breakdown is this:
Five winning numbers + the Powerball = $500,000,000
Five Numbers = $1,414,967
Four + Powerball = $21,307
Four numbers = $417
*****************************************************************************
Of course, the pool is also divided by the number of people who also have the five winning numbers, four numbers + the Powerball number, and four winning numbers.

@Laura14 Woo Hoo! Looks like you can just stay home and wait for your family to rake in the bucks! Maybe I should call my Ex and ask him if he'd cut me in (he lives near Waynesburg).

Move, I'm not sure exactly where but I wouldn't stay in the city we are now. I'd set up a trust fund for my kids, start a cat rescue, a lobby to advocate for making declawing illegal and start a low cost spay and neuter program if there wasn't one where I moved to or support the one that is there.

About 20 people are on my list to share such a prize with. My share would be much larger, since it would include contributions to various charities. I think, if after taxes there would be about $400 million left, that $100 million easily could go to charity. But everything would have to be worked out with accountants and lawyers.

How does it work when you give people money (a lot)? Pay off their mortgage etc.. Are they taxed too?

You have to pay the gift tax on the money you gave if it's over the limit.
