I have to say although I do love Christmas with a passion, I do at times get melancholy. I think about the past, people I love that are no longer here, things that have changed so much, etc. But this season has just been wonderful for me. Nothing much has changed in my life - my husband's and my health continue to deteriorate, as well as the health of many other family members. I just chose, this season, to embrace every little thing, every moment, every experience and lock each memory away in my heart like a cherished keepsake!

From your question: The point I am at now, with all my stuff back to the norm. I enjoyed the Christmas holiday this year, but I'm ready to get on with it.
Angel, you chose the perfect attitude this year. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Way to go!

Thank you, everyone, for posting a reply!
hyacinth bucket1: How truly wonderful! You are blessed to have your mother with you and hope for many more years!!!
chrystaltree: I agree! I am still in the holiday mode. I am not wanting to give it up -- yet!!
qualitygal: Yes, as I posted in another topic, I need to get back to normal as far as my eating habits!!! Too much of a good thing is -- well - good -- but after awhile, it plays havoc on your body!!! Enjoy back at 'cha!!

Best memory this year? Spending Christmas Eve day with my children and grandchildren! Family is #1 with me.
And going to see movies that are out over Christmas. DH, my son, and I saw Night at the Museum, and DH and I saw Wild so far. This Sunday DH and I intend to meet my family and go see Into the Woods!
I do however miss my parents, aunts, and uncles and the parties we had at our home when we were younger. So I do get tears every Christmas when Im watching some old Christmas movies or listening to some Christmas music. Because of course I miss them all and wish they were still here.
But now we are making new memories with the kids and grandkids.

My husband had an above the knee amputation of his left leg last year, has been going through the grueling fittings and therapy with his prosthesis for months, and the family got to see him walk on both legs for the first time Christmas Day !
Tears and applause all around.

I've had a wonderful Christmas season so far: we're only on the second day of Christmas, so there will be still more to enjoy.

It was a bittersweet celebration this year.
I spent XMas day with dear friends. They have a very old chihuahua who is coming to the end of her life. She was a stray and found her way into all of our hearts. She never knew a stranger and during parties she spent very little time on the floor--everyone took turns cuddling with her.
We had a wonderful dinner and enjoyed being with each other so much, but we had to say our good-byes to Cybil because she's going to the Bridge next week. These were powerful moments. We shed tears and hugged each other tight.
