A hospital. (but they have stopped alot of volunteer work.
I donated 2 days a week for about 3 years at our local hospital in the 90's. I wanted a busy job and asked for one and got it!
They put me on "patient menu" where I had to go to every room,
except Hospice, ICU, and diabetic of course. There were 400 rooms.
I got there at 7:30 in the morning and got my instructions and patient menu's together. I helped those that could not fill out there own choice's and talked to anyone who was alone.
Then after that I had to go back to all the room's and pick up the menu's so they could have it for lunch. I was running to be sure.
A few thing's I'll never forget. One was a young boy about 26 who had to have his leg amputated and I spent time with him. Hw was so sad. The other was the "HIV" isolation section and I was told I did not have to enter the room but I wanted to as I knew this young man was alone. If I could put a smile on someone's' face it was worth it.
I always felt so happy when I got in my car at 12:30 pm and left for the day.
Volunteering is indeed rewarding.
