I go to the gym usually 5 days a week for 2 hours. I take core and cardio classes and/or strength training classes 3 times a week for an hour and then do an hour on the elliptical. The other 2 days I do an hour of cardio on the elliptical and then one hour using machines.

I attend an exercise class through our public health department called "strong bones, strong seniors". We meet Tues. and Thur. mornings.
I know it isn't much but I figure it is at least something.

How about Yoga?
Do you use a machine as part of your workout?
How much time do you devote a day, or a week, or ???
I'm looking at Yoga. Have to check with my doctors first.
I run about 5 days a week for a total or around 100 miles a month ![]()

I don't belong to a gym. Fortunately, where I live, the weather is usually okay for outside exercise, so I walk or run outside at least 6 days a week. When this isn't possible, I have an exercise bike that I use instead. I also use this to supplement my walking/running.
I have strength training and yoga apps that I use whenever I can. The only class I go to is a 60 minute yoga class once a week. I love it, but it's all I have time for right now!
Classes are hard for me due to my unpredictable schedule. Better for me to have at home choices that I can do when the time is right for me

I haven't worked out in three months due to meniscus surgery and the healing process. However, before meniscus, my schedule was:
Monday: Circuit
Tuesday: One hour of personal training and one hour of senior circuit
Thursday: TRX
Friday: Zumba
I did a great barre class until the instructor left, and a kick boxing studio just opened and I am hoping that I will be able to take classes in a few months. Sometimes, I do water classes that include tai chi/pilates/yoga, along with a water class for arthritis. I have done chair yoga, but it usually is at an inconvenient time.
Machines are used in circuit and personal training, and free weights are used in senior circuit.
After three months, I am ready to get back to it; but, for now, it looks like Leslie Sansone's walking DVDs for me and a few non-impact machines at the Y.

I walk up at a local park with my dog as much as I can, but haven’t been able to much this winter as the weather has been crazy here...I try to work out on my total gym three days a week...I have a treadmill but really dislike working out inside...I’ve just recent gotten into hiking and love it. When weather is good we do a lot of biking.

In addition to walking every day, I also do calisthenics at home – stomach/core workout, squats, pushups & tricep dips.

Hydrofit (deep water, high intensity) class for an hour 3 times a week.
Core/weight class for an hour once a week.
Pilates for an hour twice a week.
Yes, that's correct. I work out every day. I also bike, hike, ice skate, play golf and tennis and kayak. I don't count that as part of my excercise, although it certainly is. For me, it's just fun.

When I was in high school we had to walk down in the morning and up in the afternoon a mile and a half long very steep hill to get to the trolley stop, then we had to walk up a very long flight of city steps from the trolley to the school. They were so long that my entire 990 kid senior class stood on them at the same time & had pictures done for the yearbook. I was also a majorette so we marched up & down the mountainous terrain of Pittsburgh with the school band. It was very good for us all. We stayed thin, fit & strong.
Honestly, some kids who were chubby when we started HS had really thinned down by the time we were seniors.
You just can't beat walking on an elevated plane and/or stairs.

Aqua Strength and cardio classes 3 days a week. Easier on the joints and we average 3000 steps per class. Doing weight work using the resistance of the water is amazing. We also do suspension work for our abs. Wonderful full body workout.
