California, of course!

That's where we're going! 18 more months!

How wonderful! To live or to visit?

Haven't quite decided. It's home for me as I lived there until I was 35 and DH sounds willing to get out of this Wisconsin weather but my kids and mother are going to be tough to convince.

My mother came back here with my oldest son and me 15 years ago at the age of 70 after living in the same northern California town her whole life. My sibs and inlaws were telling me she'd be back home in a year but now I can't even get her to go home to visit anymore.

I would like to know also, planning our retirement in about ten more years. I hate the cold and snow. I would like to find a state that is about 60-70+ year round. I don't think that really exists any more. Even the south got slammed this year, and then there are the hurricanes. We still have time to think about it.

As has been previously stated California and Hawaii have perfect year round weather - but are very high cost of living, so most retirees can't afford them. We live in Florida's sun coast (Gulf of Mexico) and we go to Pa. for 4 months in the summer. Both have low cost of living and are stunningly beautiful during the months we are there, so we are happy with our decision to snowbird.

California is a BIG state. You can find affordable areas.

I lived in northern CA for 17 years and southern CA for 25. I wouldn't go back.

Where I live there are no hurricanes, tornadoes or earthquakes. We do have flash floods in our rainy season, but they are gone as fast as they show up. We have a few flakes of show about every four or five years. The weather, IMO, is great.

It has been in the mid 80's all this past week and will get to about 83 today. What more could one ask for in the middle of winter.

Colorado averages 300 days of sunshine every year & has lots to offer in the way of outdoor activities. Yes, it snows & even blizzards sometimes, but then the sun comes out & the snow goes away until next time. It's not humid, & when it gets hot in the summer, it cools off nicely when the sun goes down.{#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

I could never retire in AZ due to the fact that it is land-locked. I could never be that far from the ocean, having grown up and lived within 1 1/2 hours of the ocean all my life. I guess it's whatever you are used to, though.

A former co-worker retired in AZ and she loves it, but when she comes back home, she cannot wait to take a trip to the seacoast. She says she really misses living near the ocean.

Hawaii for sure. I have never lived there but have visited twice.

Of course I think Michigan has the best weather.

Winters are cold with a lot of snow

Springs are cool with brilliant sunshine however we get rain too

Summers are the best. Warm, sun, cool winds off Lake Michigan... nothing better. The thunderstorms that build over the lake are a sight to behold as they make landfall.

Fall crisp air, bright sun, deep blue fall sky.

I love the Pacific North West. Washington State especially.
