What silly untrue things that were said to you, did you really believe was true when you were a child?

A boy told me that green Lifesavors (candy) were made out of tobacco. I believed that for years and wouldn't eat the green ones.

My (toddler) younger brother ate soap. My mom said if he didn't quit it he'd be deader than a doornail. I went to bed crying and so worried he was going to die and at the same time trying to figure out what a doornail was.
