I have been wearing frameless glasses for the past year. I have Progressive/Transitions and they are extremely lightweight.
It was time for me to get a stronger Rx for the reading part and I went to " For Eyes". Now, it seems that they can't put lenses into my "frameless' frames because I didn't get them there. Of course I knew this would be the case.
Anyway, the new trend is a cross between the rectangle and round. Sort of "rountangular". (I just made that up)... So now I have frames again. I also got another pair for just the computer (single lens) smaller oval frame. My husband got a pair of framless Progressive/Transitions also.
BTW, in case anyone is interested and wears Transitions, you know they don't tint when you are in the car, right??? But now, they have a new lens that not only tints but you can have them made in a darker tint (grey) than the regular tint that is now being used. Just a FYI....

I've had 'Poindexter' type glasses now for the past couple of years and I love them. They are a Prada brand frame that is black but the part surrounding the lenses fades to clear at the bottom. I find this brand to be of high quality and comfort. My sunglasses are another of the same brand.
I have to wear plastic frames because I'm so blind. A while back I tried smaller frames and they are just not good if you wear Progressives. Plus, I think a slightly larger frame works better for me in general.
These are my frames -

I have rectangular metal shaped frame. Frameless on the bottom. The sides are a mother of pearl with black diamond shapes. Very light weight. But they do get out of shape very easily.
From what I have been told, frames are being made like everything else lately.....made not to last very long. And yet, they cost a fortune.

Yeah, my experience in having worn glasses my whole life has been that you can find some really poor quality frames. BTDT. What I like about the brand of mine is that they are very well made (made in Italy).

ITA - I believe that would be Luxottica. Very popular...![]()

I have rectangular metal frames with scroll work like cut-outs on the arms. They were very expensive when I bought them a few years back, german made, and I haven't had to even had them adjusted since the day I picked them up and had them fitted properly. I'm hoping if my prescription changes that the Optical Shop where I got these can still fit lenses to them.

Mine are Prada, but I imagine there are a lot of good quality brands out there. Having a good quality frame makes a HUGE difference!
I learned over the years, from going to different places, that poor quality frames require constant adjustment and just aren't comfortable because of it. Walmart and Sears were two places where I had the worst frames (and lenses, for that matter). Perhaps those retailers do have better quality frames but I guess I didn't choose them. Also a place that makes good lenses makes a lot of difference.
I just love my Poindexter glasses. I've had them for over two years. I got another pair of the same frames, just to have a spare. You know how it is with frames - every time you go in they are all different. I'm perfectly happy to stay with the same ones until I want to change. Styles change frequently. ![]()

I have a really small face, and a really high prescription. Sometimes I have to get children's frames (just say no to the Scooby Doo's)
This last time (still waiting for them to get here) I got a pair of Marc Jacobs that are frameless on the bottom, framed on the top and rectangular in shape.
Who the heck knows if they look good, because I can't see a thing without the lenses in them while trying them on. I was at the mercy of the Doctor.
(and with really good insurance they were still over $600 for my part-- all the stuff added on makes them incredibly expensive!)

Mine are rectangular Valentino metal frames that are clear on the bottom of the lens. The sides are a scroll design with a floral motif. The lens is lightweight plastic (nearsighted) and set in a progressive lens. Color of the frame is a mauve shade.
I need to make an appointment for a routine eye exam this spring. I'll be looking at red metal frames next time, I think. I like black but they appear to be too stark for my skin tone.
