Watched some of the TV series as a child with Dad.
Went to the first couple of movies. Somehow lost track, and I'm not going to try to catch up.
Glad folks are enjoying though!
May the force be with you.

@Puzzle Piece wrote:I'm referring to the new Star Wars flick. I was in my youth when the first movie came out and saw the sequels. Now, the teens/youth are making such a deal about this movie. Why? It wasn't in their time as most all weren't even born then.

The first Star Wars was before my daughter was born, nonetheless, she and her friends grew up with it, it was everywhere for years and years.
I made her a Darth Vader head birthday cake one year, she collected all the little figures along with her friends.
I assume you know about the sequels.... they DID grow up with those, so their love of Star Wars does belong to them, too.
Some kids weren't born when the first Harry Potter came out, but they have grown up with the books and movies, and those books and movies are now a part of their life, too.
That's the way it works.

My Husband and I was part of the people sitting outside on the sidewalk waiting for the first showing when we were young. We have great memories of being a part of that.
Now as "up standing adults" all our friends smile when we tell them we sat outside on the sidewalk waiting for a Star Wars first showing. (smile)
Yeah.... The Force Is Within Us.....
..... and The Force will remain within us forever.

Can you imagine how it is for me to watch the movies of Star Wars and Star Trek as a make-believe movie of flying saucers?
When I watch the movies >I know< flying saucers are real and they are here. So what can I make of all this? And what can I think? And what can I not think? Of course I keep talking about such things. While others make fun and try to shut me up from talking about such things. Only because they didn't get to see one.
Life is interesting when we ponder to wonder of such things.

it's part of American Culture. I introduced Star Wars to my nephews when they were 4 and 6 and they are HUGE fans. They are now in their mid to late 20's. When the 1997 re-release of the originals came out, we all watched it.
When the last horrible prequel was released, they begged me to fly back to CA to watch it with them. I did.
I am SO excited for this movie - seeing it tomorrow. For many families it is a thing that they do. Just like some people bond on Black Friday and shop, many families bond over Star Wars. My father loved the 1st 2 movies - he sadly died before the 3rd one came out.

oh and the story is classic - it is part of the hero myth - people can relate. Plus also, folks cosplay - it is HUGE.

I saw the original when I was 8. I have no interest in seeing this movie.
I do have a 30 yr old cousin who dresses up as some character and is obsessed with all things Star Wars.
