Re: What's something you refuse to spend money on?

[ Edited ]

So many things, lots that have already been mentioned.

The top ones that immediately popped into my head:

1] Manicures and pedicures (never had either, perfectly capable of doing nice ones myself)

2] Drinking water

3] Fancy cell phones, and cell service (because I just don't have the need)

4) Any spa services ( I don't enjoy strangers doing personal things for me, so it's not enjoyable)

5) Housecleaning services (someday, when I can't do my own, I may have to rethink this, but for now, just No,No,No.  Again, I don't like the idea of other people doing things to my things, if I can do those things, and probably better).

6) Car washes ( I use to use them when I briefly lived in apartments, now if I can't get my husband to do it, the car stays dirty).

I put this question to DH and he said: He would not put money in tatoo's or give money to a panhandler.

Name brand   products at the grocery store.....I buy store brands when available 99% of the time and save a lot. On senior day at Fred Meyers I get another 10% off Fred Meyer brand products...WIN WIN!

  1. Manicures (but YES to pedicures)
  2. Pre-cut vegetables (those containers of onions, peppers, celery, etc.)
  3. The latest iPhone (mine are purposefully always several years behind)
  4. Compression Shapewear (what you see is what you get Smiley Happy)

AIR!!!  I absolutely refuse to pay for air to fill the tires on my car.  It is absurd.

Calendars--I know--weird-- but a free calendar at a pharmacy or wherever, makes me so happy

Getting my hair colored--don't do that anymore

cars---everything about them---gave my beater up a couple years ago

purses--not a purse fan--DD is addicted

jeans over $50--just bought 2 pairs of DJ2 jeans for under $30

Magazine subscriptions.  No matter the magazine's subject, they're full of politics which we get bombarded with as it is!

@ECBG

And as far as magazines they are mostly nothing but ADs these days.....I dont buy and/or no longer subscribe to-- Good Housekeeping, Family Circle, Woman's Day, Woman's World, Country Living

Having said that I still subscribe to Guidepost magazine, Sports Spectrum, and Castster (a magazine for feline "parents")---these publications still have plenty of good articles.
