Snakes.

Yep, definitely snakes!

Edges.

Yep, that too!

So, hopefully I will never see a snake while hiking a trail

that hugs the edge  of a mountain or a canyon...

Oh man, that would be awful - I would totally lose it for sure!!

Drowning, or not being able to breathe.  I am somewhat claustrophobic.  When swimming, and I am in the deep end and someone grabs me or clings to me, it is instant panic!

Another poster thanked everyone for this post because it made her feel not crazy and I will have to second that.

I have so many phobias along w/panic disorder.

Spiders, ticks ( I want a dog but scared of checking it for ticks), bridges (I live in an area with lots of bridges and tunnels) and driving. I have my "routes" for going places to avoid things. I avoid the interstate at all costs. And I only will go out into traffic at certain times of day due to the traffic volume (I am retired).  My car mileage is so low people make fun of me. That embarrasses me. Even the roads in the areas surrounding me are always being widened because everywhere is growing so much. Ugh! I feel as if my world is getting smaller and smaller. Oddly I live alone now (widow) and have never been scared by myself.

I love facials, but I am too somewhat claustrophobic, and when the facialist put the cloth over my face, I pulled it off so quick and said no, I can't have this over my whole face...So from now on, I will ask for the steaming treatment instead.........I also breathe a sigh of relief when finishing a car wash......

I feel better now, knowing I'm not the only one!

My Extreme fear is Escalators, and Cats. I was attacked by a cat jumping off a porch roof in the dark in the winter and was scratched severely almost into my eye in the corner of my eye.And I don't like my bedroom closed since I was in the hospital this year. I guess for fear I won't be heard if I need help.

Like you, I also can't sleep with my bedroom door closed.    My husband sleeps with both a sleep mask and earplugs, I could not do that.   I have to be able to both see and hear any strange things or sounds that might be happening at night.    I also cannot sleep in a totally darkened room.

I have always been afraid of dogs.

My mother was bitten by a dog when she was a child and always had a fear of them from that time on.

We did have dogs during my growing up but it would take her a while to feel comfortable having them around her.    If it was a strange dog that she didn't know she was very afraid of it.
