Re: What's Your Favorite Eating Place

It depends on what I want and what part of town I am in. In my own neighborhood, I prefer The Grateful Bread, for the best Americano in town, terrific chicken Caesar salad, fab sandwiches made with their home made bread, and their wonderful baked confections, such as huge chocolate dipped macaroons. Also near me is the Honey Bear Bakery and Deli whose basil roasted chicken sandwich is the best in town. My favorite bistro is the Italian Bar Cotto with it fennel sausage pizza, wonderful pasta, home made gelato and Chile Chocolate Leche tart. I also enjoy the Rockbottom Brewery downtown near the theater. North of Seattle, I love Calico Cupboard in the towns of LA Conner, Mt. Vernon, and Anacortes. I've never had a bad meal there, and the baked goods are to die for, especially their bread pudding and their apple dumplings. I'm not much of a fish eater, but if I want a gourmet salmon or halibut dinner, I go to Anthony's Homeport.

Hey RCG, I agree about Grateful Bread and HBB! Have also enjoyed RockBottom by the 5th Avenue. Hubby and I have been to (and loved) the Anacortes Calico Cupboard. Has anyone stumbled on to MaryAnn's Kitchen in Anacortes? It's our favorite breakfast/lunch place there.

Re: What's Your Favorite Eating Place

For oysters, I go to one restaurant since they ship 'em up from the Gulf. For Mexican, there's really only Frontera that I like, and lately I've been getting the best steaks of my life at Longhorn. Texas Roadhouse and Outback can't begin to compete. For Chinese (Mongolian beef), there's only one place I hit, and it's sooooooooooo cheap.

Oh, and Maggiano's has/had an amazing special recently that was one of the most delicious pile-o-carbs I've ever eaten.

We love Jason's deli for lunch (I love their salad bar) and PF Changs for Dinner (ginger chicken or shanghai shrimp). I also love Eddie Merlot's for ahi, but we don't go often as it's so expensive.

A family member rec'd Jason's, but we chose somewhere else instead. Since we were ecstatic with where we went, I guess we would have won with either restaurant.

I'm tempted to try PF Chang's when I'm at the Mall of Georgia, but they cost four times as much as my local Chinese place, and I don't think they'll be four times better.

Very seldom eat out - I prefer to cook at home. But there is a nice Mexican restaurant we enjoy once in a while.

PF Changs is pricy. If I get a glass of wine and DH gets a beer and a glass of wine, with dinner, tip, etc. it's not cheap. BUT, imo, it's so much better than most Chinese restaurants I've been to. Wine is like $10 to $12 a glass. If you don't drink, it's not that expensive.

We love Jason's deli. Everything is good there, and the salad bar is incredible--all fresh, romaine lettuce, Spring lettuce, lots of veggies, etc. It's the best I've seen and not expensive.

My favorite place is the Rah Bar on the pier on Jekyll Island -- peel and eat shrimp, hot sauce & beer.
