Re: What "popular" phrases drive you nuts?

What makes me grit my teeth and breathe fire is:

"It is what it is."

ugh

"It's all good!"  I always wonder what planet the person lives on.  I should move there.  My life has ups and downs.  Most are good, but not everything is.  I find that it's my perspective and what I choose to do in each situation that makes something good or bad.

Re: What "popular" phrases drive you nuts?

yeah, "It's all good"-No it's not.

You know how people ask you "How are you?" and they don't even wait for you to answer but say "good?"

A friend used to say when people asked him that he would reply:

"I'm, glad you asked! You got 3 hours? Sit down!" I always laugh when I think of that.

There were only 2 places I was ever asked that (aside from family or close friends) where strangers would ask you how you were and actually waited for your reply! They really wanted to know!

I'll never forget that-how wonderful is that? One was a small town in Maryland and the other in Blacksburg Virginia.

"If you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you'll learn things you never knew. Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains? can you paint with all the colors of the wind?"

I have mentioned those 'how are you' people over the years.  That is irksome.  If somebody asks me 'how are you' I look at them sincerely and say 'I'm fine, thank you', or something like that and 'how are you today?'.    I continue to look at them and I think sometimes it actually startles people that it seems like you give a carp.

It's usually a 'walk by' type of deal.  They ask 'how are you?' and keep walking.  Uh - ok.   hehe

This is the second or third comment about this phrase. I don't get the angst over this???

I use it. And it's usually to calm someone down who is stressing out of something that is out of their control.....that to me is the bigger "ugh"! Sometimes, you have to accept that "it is what it is" and get over it......

I use some of these other phrases too. Doesn't bother me what phrases others use. Nothing to go "nuts" over. But I do have to admit that certain hosts get the ole channel changer sometimes when they go in repeat mode with their catch phrases. Miss "here's the thing", I'm looking at you! Smiley Tongue

No problem. (I never thought it was)

this is 'dated" (used to be needs updating, but no it doesn't!)

I don't like easy peasy either.

Ewww!  I don't like that, either.  That's just - ewww.

I don't think I ever heard that one until I heard it on QVC some time back.   I thought 'where the heck did that come from?'.
