When my daughter would cry because she was tired and didn't want to be fastened into her car seat my mother would say better she cries than I cry for her getting injured. She also said whoever gets up to dance loses their seat. I guess it means having a good time comes with a cost.

She gagged on a gnat and swallowed a camel.

 

Well I hope I die!  My farm Grandma said this one all the time when she learned or was told something new.  

**** in one hand, wish in the other and see which one fills up faster.

Oh what tangled webs we weave, when first we practice to deceive.  I still throw this at the grandkids, lol!  There are a couple of sayings I love I picked up England I use now and then, one is "A bit of a Barney". When someone is fighting. And another is ******e, lol

That one just got up and walked off the plate. (referring to when some beans were actually insects in the army)-yick!

 

If next years a good year... and he would add anything like we'll get you some dinner, or you can have a drink of water, especially when some one of us was waiting for dinner or hadn't gotten a drink yet.

We thought that was funny.

 

That was good. What there was of it. (referring to a meal).

 

A lot of these came from his real experiences in the army.
