Re: What makes a Person Confident in your Opinion?

I think a truely confident person exhibits courage, love, and self control. I also think they are humble enough to not think of themselves more highly than they should and therefore don't feel the need to explain themselves away....so to speak. They look for balance in their lives.

Re: What makes a Person Confident in your Opinion?

A confident person can be loud or quiet, talkative or lean with words.  Confident people may be correct in their assertions and then again, they might be incorrect and hold fast to their opinions anyway, believing firmly that they are correct.

I don't necessarily think that confidence, in and of itself, is a virtue.

Hello!  Happy post-thanksgiving to you!

To me a confident person is comfortable receiving feedback without letting it affect their self worth as well as not needing to make decisions by committee all the time.

Also, confidence to me means you can admire other people's gifts and abilities without feeling like it takes away from your own.

Just being okay in your skin and being able to be happy for others instead of jealous.

I think you hit on it all here. I would like to add - a person is confident does not resort to personal attacks against someone who has a different opinion than they do.

a confident person will state their beliefs and opinions without the need to defend themself against those who would try to bully them to change. it also includes the ability to change their mind when given additional information. they have the ability to grow and change without damage to their self esteem and are not ego driven.

I guess a confident person knows what they are talking about, but doesn't have to boast about it, or shove it down anyone else's throat. They can make a decision and have it be right most of the time. They don't have to shout to be heard.

I don't think being confident has anything to do with being right although I think many confident people "think" they are correct.

I am confident in my opinion when I feel I have thoroughly researched all the facts relevent to the situation.

I'm thinking that sometimes it's the way they 'hold' themselves: walking and standing tall; their calm demeanor.  They have an 'airre' about them.  It's that 'look' and aura that surrounds their presence.  It spells 'confidence' (to me, anyway).   But, always keeping in mind: 'Don't let their looks fool us'.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Confident people speak their mind.  How loud or soft spoken they are is irrelevant.

Yes...and then they are told by some that their "speaking their mind" is offensive.  No way to win this one! Woman Wink
