What is your take on this consistent statement?

A gentleman and I are emailing. We know each other and enjoyed each other's company. We had a parting of the ways. We stay in touch via email. He ends every email with "who knows what the future may bring" referring to us.

I got my DS and DD's POV. They are of the same accord.

I just don't see it their way. I have my own theory.

What would take from this statement each time he emails me?
