Re: What is your favorite detergent to prevent fading in colored clothes; pinks, turquoise, etc.?

I only use one deteregent:

Arm & Hammer for sensitive skn and a scoop of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda for both machine washable and hand washing.

I separate whites / dark colors / other colors.  I only use cold water .... never had any fading issues.

ETA:  I turn all my clothes inside-out before washing.

@ALRATIBA It works better than anything I've found that doesn't make me itch!  I don't add the soda though. Might have to try it!

Been using Nellie's Laundry Soda for years now. My black thermal shirts are as black as a new one I haven't worn yet.

I used to use the Tide for dark clothes until I couldn't find it anymore. Now I use Cheer ColorGuard. It does a decent job and keeps the dye from staining my fingers if I rub them on the jeans etc.

@sann @There are a gazillion Tides. I used to use one made for co,ores clothing that prevented fading. I used it on my dressier towels too. It kept everything looking like brand new. I washed in cold water and line dried except for the colored towels, which I used a hot dryer for (to kill germs). Now I can't find anything similar. My colored cotton clothes definitely do fade with other Tides, even in cold water. I've tried regular Woolite for delicates and it has a very strong odor and does not work the way it used to when I was younger.

In addition to the detergent I think it also has to do with the QUALITY of th FABRIC....Ive noticed a definite decline in some of the clothing brands, including QVC brands, one D&C t-shirt the fabric was just awful, Walmart quality was better....I returned it and wrote a review...in an effort to keep costs down I think they are taking short cuts on the fabrication.....Now some D&C shirts are fine and others not so much...

Good point .... and fabric content percentages also affect colorfastness.

If I had two black tee shirts, one 100% cotton and the other 60/40 poly cotton blend ... washing them identically, I'd bet serious money the all cotton shirt would lose color before the other tee.

LOL... So am I.  Tried other products.  Tide always gets clothes clean.

Well, not to brag or anything, but I'm a Double Tide person.   Woman LOL

I use either Tide, or Tide with Downey.  That's all I need for all occasions.

I buy em all.  Anything with Tide on the front. Seriously, I've tried just about everything.  Nothing gets clothes clean as Tide does.
