The outhouse on my fathers family farm. We were seeing the animals. I had to go but we had to go back to the house. Just couldn't go there. Held my nose and looked in because I am nosy.

@dex  I know what you mean about perfumes.  When White Diamonds first came out I worked in an office with a woman  and she wore it.  She smelled so good I thought I just had to have it!  I bought the biggest bottle I could after I sprayed myself I literally smelled like I had been sprayed by a skunk.  I gave the bottle to my aunt and she loved it.  It is so true about how fragrances react with your body chemistry.

Been 45 years since I visited an outhouse on a farm, but that smell never leaves you!   

My family kept a bag or bucket of lime in the outhouse and “dusted” frequently, which helped with odor, along with flies, rats, and snakes.

My husband's feet after we'd been dating for a while. He apparently had a foot fungus and didn't know it but I could sure smell it!  I sent him to the doctor to get something for it.

When I was a child living in New York, entering the zoo area in Central Park - was the worst.

Thank you!  I didn't even know I was smelling weed these last few years (parking garage, at the beach, etc.) and thought it was skunk.  Until we were at a show a few months ago and I said "How did a skunk get in here?" and my DH is "uh, someone is smoking a doobie."

It did not smell like that when I was a teenager so long ago.  I remember a sort of sweet smell.

I lived in Brooklyn Heights when I was very little.

I remember a gorilla at one of the zoos would throw his "poo" at us. My father explained that the gorilla was so unhappy at being in a cage that that was all he could do. I will never forget that animals face.

Yep!  I was going to answer decaying human flesh.  But it wasn't covered in cat urine or in a sewer, so it certainly trumps the worst thing I have ever smelled!
