Does anyone know how On Demand works? That is, who picks the shows and how long they stay up, etc. I know each cable company has a different set-up and some viewers even have to pay separately for it,etc. I am wondering if it costs the stations more for certain shows and that sort of thing. I've tried googling but cannot even find basic information about the set-up.

I started thinking about this regarding the OWN channel. It sounds like the station is not doing well so I started wondering about their lousy On Demand selections and how/for what reason these choices are made? And it went on from there. If anyone knows the business angle of any of this, I sure would appreciate hearing it!!
