Hi @Forum_Folks 

I feel like I'm missing out on something here. 

What is "Brat"  a noun?  a verb?

Is it youthful jargon, like the ole "Keen" or "Hip" or "kewl" were 

I've searched Google, incl Slang, & nothing seems to fit.   Is it a dance?  a Song?   Jargon for something?  or a Brand name? 

Your kiddos would probably know, if you're comfortable asking them, since they seem to know Cell Phone stuff too.

Due to recent move, I dont have access to those former Grades 1-7 neighborhood kiddos to ask.

(BTW, apparently, kids are referred to a "kiddos" now too, Im told).

When I was a kid a brat was not a good thing, it usually was a description of a badly behave kid....as in 'spoiled brat'.

It started with Charlie XCXs album of that name and evolved into what @Lakelife62 described above.

So "brat" now is not that much different than the "brat" we've always known? Misbehaving child? 

Only now,  "brat" has been turned into a more positive misbehaving? 

Is that the understanding?

"Brat Summer" is directly related to Charli XCX's new and highly successful album release.

It's being free, open, rebellious,  even confrontational and it's great music too!

Okay,   somewhere along the way, the ole bad "brat" behavior has been twisted to mean the same thing, but its now a kewl behavior?

So,  if you now tell a kiddo, "You are such a "brat,"  the kiddo will feel good about it?  Where as the old kiddo would be offended to be called a "brat?"

That sound about right?

So, it's all about "spin" that makes the difference between then & now.

(added)  So if the above change is mere "spin" of basically the same meaning, just a good thing now,  I'm glad I didnt use "Brat/brat" out loud, with the 2 youngest of 4 children I was helping look after, pre-move,   cause a couple of times they were acting like the old definition of a "brat" - thank goodness I didnt say it to them.
