It was inspiring to know that some became English teachers like me and so many were happy, successful, well adjusted adults with children of their own. It was a bittersweet trip down memory lane from a class of kids who left me with the best images of my career.
Oh, I am so sorry for your loss. It is wonderful, however, that you saw some of your earlier students and that they are not only doing well but have followed in your footsteps (my daughter's career, by the way). You were obviously a wonderful inspiration.
Thanks for the kind words. Actually, it was a nice memorial for a person who had been a prisoner in his own body for many many years, all due to a freak accident in sports. It was time for him to be free of earthly constraints, so we celebrated all his accomplishments despite horrible impediments. Glad to hear your daughter is also a teacher.

Our lives changed a few weeks ago. I won't go into details but I woke up sometime last night and DH was sound asleep and had hold of my hand. Smile and tears.

We went to a popular drive-in restaurant tonight for a fish sandwich. In the car beside us was a beautiful little "Brodie dog." He was a young westie, and Brodie was a wheaten cairn terrier and the distinct similarities made me and DH smile through tears.
We miss Brodie so much (Rainbow Bridge, April 23) and we are still looking for another cairn. Many breeders in or near our state will not have cairns available until late fall. Meanwhile, we wait ...

My FIL has a wheaten cairn terrier named Niamh (pronounced "Neev") and she's very sweet and cute.
Sorry about your pup.

Cairns are beautiful little dogs and so intelligent and loyal, albeit sometimes stubborn. Our Brodie was a certified therapy dog who absolutely loved to visit people in all walks of life. We're thinking of the names Coco or Lily.

What a sweet, thoughtful thread!
My daughter told me a funny story. The other day she slipped and fell down the stairs (of course, that's not the funny part)--she's OK, no harm done, luckily. My little grandson came running over to her and said, "You should get Life Alert--you just push a button and in less than a minute, help is on the way!"

Now that made me laugh out loud. I am happy your daughter wasn't hurt. I would assume she may be in her 20s or 30s not yet ready for a Life Alert. Your little grandson's comment is precious. And we think they don't pay attention to commercials.
Please pass this on. Everyone needs a big laugh this morning.
