I miss Fashion Bug....but before that company started bringing in cheap patterned clothing. I still have some basic classic items.

I remember the shopping trips with my Mother, twice a year , to B. Altman .
Then ,when I was a young woman, taking the children to the Bird Cage ,at Lord + Taylor,
for afternoon tea...also Bonwit Teller and Bamberger and Abraham & Straus for everyday goods....we used to drive thru the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to go for lunch and shopping.
Such good memories I have not thought about in years !

Definitely Pier One, where I always felt like I was on a treasure hunt. For clothes, I do miss Dress Barn and Christopher & Banks.

I think Century 21 has re-opned at its original location downtown.
I forgot about Alexander's. I shopped in their Queens Blvd. store many years ago when I lived in Queens.
I still use a couple of the handbags I bought at Sims out on LI - lots of years ago!

Among nicer stores, I miss Woodward and Lothrop, which was a store local to the DC area. I also miss Lord and Taylor, Garfinkels, Hechts and Raleighs, but 'Woodies' the most. Among more bargain type stores, I much preferred the KMart of old to today's Walmart option. Going way back, I loved Memco, which sold everything, including groceries. I always enjoyed going there with my mother and found some really nice things there.

Defintely Century 21. Was surprised when they closed all the stores. Alexander's has been gone for so long that I forgot about them!
More recently I miss Lord & Taylor. The flagship store on 5th Avenue was one of my favorites.

@ALRATIBA You're right! Just "googled" Century 21 and it plans to reopen in the Wall Street location this spring. I have something to look forward to when I'm in NYC in July!
Also remember Alexander's on Queens Boulevard. My DH and I took dance lessons there--LOL! It now houses a multitude of stores including Marshalls.
