It really is more like a cobbler. The only one I ever made was with cherry pie filling and chocolate cake mix.

I have not made this cake yet, but it sounds good and easy.

You need only:
3 eggs
1 can pie filling (you pick it – Apple, cherry, peach – whatever you want)
1 box cake mix (any flavor, color, etc.)
Mix it up:
Put the 3 ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix well. Pour into a greased 8” x 8” square pan or a
bundt pan. Bake 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Let cool slightly and “dump” out onto cooling rack. Serve
with sauce if desired.
Use your imagination or try one of these:
Pineapple cake mix with one of the following:
Blueberry, chocolate, cherry, apple or strawberry pie filling as a topping.

I made several dump cakes in my baking days! It is a quick way to make a good dessert! They are really good, mostly served with vanilla ice cream! Haven't made one in ages though...

My SIL makes the cranberry one almost every thanksgiving and its really good. She uses the organic cranberry fruit she buys at Costco that is seasonal, canned crushed pineapple and its very moist and tasty.

Time for dump cake again! If you haven't weighed in yet, tell us what you think! But keep it clean or our hard-earned dump will be flushed. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Dump cake sounds so disgusting. LOL.

They usually involve boxed cake mixes and canned fruit. Yuck!

Not all of them, and the ones I make do not resemble a cobbler or a crisp at all. PThey look like normal cakes, but don't require all the sifting, etc. Maybe my definition of a dump cake is different than everyone else's. You just put everything at once in a bowl and mix thoroughly. As I mentioned, the Hummingbird cake is made with mashed bananas and pineapple crushed which is mixed with eggs, flour, etc. I also make a cranberry orange cake made with flour and the usual, but mayo is substituted for the eggs and oil. Both of these cakes are delicious and moist. The Hummingbord Cake has cream cheese icing.

Dump cakes are delicious, BUT if it doesn't appeal to you, don't make it.
