Re: What if masks were available and free?

I will wear my cloth mask in the grocery store, to get my hair and pedicures done, and that’s probably it.   Things will have to get a lot worse locally before I wear gloves in order to go out.

Staying home suits me just fine; 39 years in this house and I have never been bored.  My normal way of life is to go out when, and only when, I need to.   I have no interest in shopping, visiting, eating out, movies, or any other social activity.

I’m not interested in a mask that makes it easier for me to return to “normal”.   If I’m still sitting here in this house on 5-6-2021 with my husband and daughters, I will still feel blessed.

Re: What if masks were available and free?

Personally, I think that if masks were easily available people would be more likely to wear them. Would everyone jump on board? No, but for some folks they haven't been easy to obtain. Making them readily available surely wouldn't hurt anything.

True but unfortunately many people would not use them even if they were free and readily available. If you look at the news, people are not responsing well to security guards, park rangers, etc telling them to socially distance or wear masks.

Good point,  I had a doctor appointment today.  4 of us in a large waiting room, far away from each other.  Myself and another woman wore masks.  The two older men...nope, no masks.

Edited to add:  In my small city (just over 5,000)...a local business donated two cloth masks to every household.  Volunteers spent the past week hanging the plastic bags with the masks on mailboxes and doorknobs.

@Nightowlz You are free do do whatever you believe. Please carry with you a signed and notorized affidavit that you refuse all healthcare treatment for yourself and anyone you infect with Covid-19. While your beliefs are valid to you, you do not have the right to put others at risk and not honor their beliefs.

@granddiThere ain't so such thing as a free lunch.  Money to pay the costs has to come from somewhere.  Governments don't have hidden stashes of cash just waiting to be doled out.  If you haven't learned that by now, I really feel sorry for you.  And I'm afraid that you are just the tip of the iceberg of those who beieve that government can just give stuff away.  I find that truly scary,

My mail carrier does not wear a mask or gloves on most days.  I asked her why and she said it's just way too hot for her.  The next day she was wearing gloves but still no mask.

There are occasions when I need to ask her something and so I keep my distance but I have not put on a mask for that because then I have to either throw it away if it's one of my disposable types or throw it in the wash and these steps become tiresome for a 1 minute encounter with the mail carrier. I do spray letters and packages with rubbing alcohol and wait for it to dry before bringing them inside.  Yet I worry about it sometimes.

@Boomerdotty, the fact that it was removed is all I need to know. Besides, I don't get my facts from youtube.

The video posted that was deleted. I knew all along these things were happening but people think you are crazy. Makes me sick.

So you found some YT that confirmed your beliefs. If that gives you comfort, I wish you well. But the fact that you now have something to reference for not taking any precautions is more than worrisome, both for you and anyone you have contact with. @Nightowlz

It seems that unless or until a treatment or vaccine we have few options for staying healthy. Our only options are self quarantine, social distancing, face masks, hand washing and personal healthy habits (avoid touching face, eating well, mental health).

What if N95 masks were readily available to all at no or little cost?

What if disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer was free or at little cost? We are told that the virus is airborne and can linger on surfaces.

What if testing was available at no cost? If you are infected you will know and will be less likely to spead.

What if it was easier and cheaper to get people the tools they need to reduce the risk of being infected rather than self isolation? This might be the only and best option unless or until a treatment or vaccine is available.

@granddi

???    Maybe I'm not understanding your point ... so masks were free ... so what?
