OJ's trial was televised for 134 days ( i just looked it up, I don't know that by heart, lol)

Casey's trial was May 24th- July5 (not counting jury selection)

Remember those were shortened by the not guilty verdicts.

Arias started Jan 2 and ended with the penalty phase mistrial on May 23rd. Of course, it is not done yet.

AZ is weird because of their court being dark one day a week, and then there were a ton of other delays during the trial, and after, of course.

Yes, those dark days really seemed to slow it down, among other things, like you said.

If there is not a big trial to exploit, they are lost. They overstaffed for Arias and Anthony, and then once those cash cows were done, ratings went down. They could no longer support all the legal eagles, and so now it is headline news bits repeated all day and a lot of cheap pre made crime shows at night.

BTW: If anyone watched the Martin MacNeil trial, he was finally sentenced today. 15-life plus 1-15 for another charge, and then another charge (sep trial) sentencing earlier this week another 1-15.

Actually they aren't lost. They are restructuring and developing programming that is Social Media friendly. Many of the new shows, shows in development will already have a heavy social media following. The millennials are on social media, create viral videos, blogs, etc. This is one of the new formulas that many of the networks are looking for.

well, they appear lost. They have lost a large portion of their audience, even if it was at artificially high rates during the trial coverage.

Time will tell if this trend grows. We keep an eye out for new talent with a large following. If we find talent that doesn't have a high following, one of the first things we tell them is they have to get their numbers up "WAY UP!"

Everyone is looking for the next viral star. It can be from a video, a blog, a rant on Facebook, etc.

Who is we?.....and are they going to get better?

It is a incredibly boring network at this time,. I'd like to see it worth watching again, and soon.

"We" would be my producing partners and I. I only know what they are looking for in new shows, shows to be developed and talent. They are looking at the Social Media format. The new trend is the Social Media Star! Right now... that is the future. It's not just HLN.

What exactly does social media format mean? And thanks for being a good sport about answering who we is..I was curious....I am not sure what a social media format in a entertainment/news show means.....I really did like it the way it was, though I do understand they need to keep growing and changing.

The trend is growing fast. It started before HLN.

All you need to do is look at all the people with their own YouTube Channels, their own web shows w/webisodes. Many of them have a huge following all over the world. It's a no brainer to pick up a show or talent that already has a HUGE following. A network might see a show in talent, have show that needs talent with a built in following/audience or a web show that has a following and/or a built in audience already.

That's what "we" keep an eye out for.

It sounds like a fun job......so it is a work in progress for HLN, and it will get better when it gets better....lol......I will continue to check in and see, but those nightly crime shows are getting so old.....thanks again for being a good sport SugarNSpice.
