What happened to the automatic spell check?

It used to underline a word automatically when you typed it.  It was so convenient.  Now we have to click spellcheck and half the time I forget to do it.  I am the worlds worst speller and I liked that feature.

I use Google Chrome with the Grammarly extension and it checks my spelling as I type without needing the spell check button.

I think that is what I miss the most.  I have gone to my word processing program for so many words to check before I hit submit.  My spelling is awful.
