@Wayne-QVC, ha ha ha ha! After the wide swath you cut yesterday, I think you did some collateral damage to your Community Chat reputation. But, I can get along with anyone so I'm sure I can get along with you. Maybe even like you some day.
Plus, I have a brother named Wayne so I sorta hafta be nice.
Isn't THAT the truth...

Agreed... The seemingly precipitous poofing of what was nothing more than a handful of harmless, humorous posts felt uneven, unnecessary, a bit humorless and frankly a bit arrogant... There was no discussion of political or religious subject matter and while there was a tad of sarcasm involved, 'the standards' would not appear to have been violated... The actions felt unduly harsh.

@stevieb, soon we'll all be like robots posting soon, we must stay on topic and not cross the lines. I agree with what you said..
I am glad to see @Keyai posting again.

Some of the published standards were violated, since the thread was taken off-topic with a flood of unrelated posts and it was disrespectful of those who had been trying to talk about the original subject, in my opinion. However, it was a shame to see the entire thread deleted -- a really interesting discussion -- instead of just a removal of the O/T responses which the few posters easily could've taken to a separate thread.
Personally, I appreciate @Keyai, @Wayne-QVC, and all the other moderators. They have to try and interpret the published standards, keep up with thousands of posts in all the various forums and sub-forums, and deal with our frustrations and demands for answers, too.
And they have to do all this with the fact in mind that QVC owns and operates the forums and, as such, what's posted here can be seen as a reflection of QVC.
I've had experience helping moderate an international forum, so perhaps that helps me to be more aware of the challenges -- it's not an easy job and the end result always upsets and disappoints someone.

I imagine after moderating these forums for awhile, moderators need to take some serious time off to either go into rehab or to spend some time in a padded cell. :-) :-) :-)
Just kidding, Guys, I hope we all don't drive you TOO crazy! :-)

Yes, we understand we crossed the lines by having fun saying about ice cream causing threads to be poofed.. I apologize for daring to violate standards, I take full responsibility..

You cannot blame the moderators. It's the posters who insist on pounding the Report Inappropriate feature whenever they feel the slightest bit threatened.

Really??? People would actually choose the Report Inappropriate option on a bit of harmless, lighthearted fun? It was my thread, well, I srarted the thread, and the O/T fun didn't bother me at all. I guess I better get my head out of the cotton candy clouds.

Hi, Gato! Just my guess, but it likely only takes one report to get the attention of the moderators as opposed to "pounding." And I doubt anyone here feels threatened by posts.
The moderators probably start to watch a thread if they get one report... or if certain key words get their notice with no reports being made.
The thread last night actually was a question and comment directed to the moderators, so obviously they already were aware of it and it's possible that no one reported anything.
(Not that it matters much, but for the record I didn't report the O/T activity -- I just thought the thread was interesting and had hoped it could be allowed to continue). Personally, I think we should take responsibility for what we post instead of trying to shift the "blame" to others. I guess I don't understand why we rail against policies we agreed to abide by when we registered to use the forums (rhetorical pondering).

Someone gets offended and reports the post/thread : (
