Re: What exactly does AS IS mean especially re fashion

IIts an item that someone else returned.  It's not broken or damaged, they do inspect the items but it's used goods.  With the 30 dsy return policy someone could have used or worn the item for up to 30 days.

Thank you all. I really wasn't sure what that meant.

I occasionally get "as is" without selecting them-----

If it's a good price, I get "as is" items (the term is fully described and includes returned items) to check the fit.  If it fits, great.  If it doesn't, it gets donated.  I recently  got a pair of leggings that had been laundered (the paper label gave it away) and the fit was perfect.  I also got a pair of sketchers that had most of the labels removed and didn't fit.  It's not a bad deal, if you don't  want to spend money on return postage.  The items  are covered by the normal 30 day return policy.  But, you would know a lot more if you actually read the info when you order.

Re: What exactly does AS IS mean especially re fashion

I have ordered many kitchen items, flameless candles, and handbags without problem.  I think most if not all, had been used in shows BUT the one time I did order a top from the "as is" category, had multiple problems.  It had been washed and I believe worn multiple times and contained 3 or 4 stains on it.  I had the same top in a different color and the "as is" top had even shrunk although the size was stated as the same.  I immediately called CS and told the rep of the problems and that I would not even give 2.00 for it at a yard sale.  She apologized and allowed me to return the top free of charge and refunded my money.  I don't order clothing any more from "as is" but will continue to order items from other categories.

When you order fashion items, I think you always run the risk of getting someone else's returns.  This has happened to me with QVC as well as HSN.  Yes, I promptly returned the rejects (the one from HSN had hairs attached to it), and asked for, and received, a full refund including shipping boht ways.

Ain't that the truth, @hennypenny!! I've received several items over the years that were worn, used, or otherwise not new as advertised. I've also gotten several items "as is" that were perfect, including several pairs of Isaac Mizrahi shoes. I'm still wearing them and still happy with them.

Can you please explain to me WHY you would not return it for a refund instead of donating it? It completely confuses me WHY people do that! Say you paid $25 for something with $3 S&H - then you donate it to prevent paying a $3 return S&H instead of getting back $22 - you are out $28 instead of $6. How do you rationalize that?

I don't think expca deserves to be berated for making charitable donations.  Whether she donates it or dusts the furniture with it, it's her property and her business.

And maybe she feels that someone else needs a new pair of pants more than she needs $28.

Re: What exactly does AS IS mean especially re fashion

I buy as-is quite a bit.  The only thing I will no longer buy from as -is are handbags because I've not had good luck.  They always come to me looking like I got the bags they throw all over the set.  LOL
