What ever happened to specialty shows?

I really miss the shows like the Victorian shows, doll shows, Kirks Folly shows, stained glass, you know the unique and different. Mind you I like fashion, make-up and jewelry and the like. But tire of the same old stuff, and the marathons of the same. We need something a bit more exciting than what's been shown on the Q. I look at HSN and HQ and they have some unusual shows mixed in with their favorites. Plus the Q prices have been crazy along with the s&h charges. I venture to say most of us have to watch our pennies, and who can afford some of the things they offer now? I enjoy shopping on t.v. but as of late it looks like shopping around town is cheaper and has more selection to offer.

If we'd bought enough Victorian, Kirks Folly, dolls or stained glass they'd still be on. The stuff just wasn't popular enough or we'd still be seeing them. QVC isn't on for our entertainment, unfortunately.

Undoubtedly, if these type shows brought in the profits, they would most likely still be on. However, most of these shows were "disposable income" type shows. The economy may have played a part due to the fact that most people are counting their pennies and have less left to spend after taking care of the necessities.

And sometimes these novel type shows just run their course, and new ideas are presented.

I'm all for the new ideas, but they aren't showing those either. I miss the tiffany lamps, too.

Agreed! They sure had some wacky shows on in the "old days." Lots of variety of standard and "kooky" but funny stuff. Items that catered to "niche" interests or collectors.
