Some are "puzzled" that everyone in a family doesn't get the virus, when most do. As I said, everyone does not catch colds or flu, even when exposed to others so afflicted. Just as everyone doesn't contract diseases which are not communicable.
...which is what I posted.
It means their immune systems fought off the virus right away. Everyone else took longer. Our bodies are constantly fighting and killing viruses and bacteria.

@Moonlady, yes, of course some will not show symptoms or even contract the virus, probably as @Porcelain explained.
As for people not contracting non-communicable diseases, yeah. That's why they're called non-communicable.

While what you say about COVID is true, the "many" who have died is relative. The fact is, it's a miniscule number of the number of people affected. The mortality rate for these diseases is not only low, but it's also lower here than in many other countries, including China.
Coronavirus has 7 times the fatality rate as the flu.

my daughter told me today that the students from her school who are studying in japan this semester are now given two weeks off due to the virus and they will be working online. no word on how much longer after that schools will be affected. the students are also given the option of coming back and completing their semester here.

@Hoovermom wrote:No, I am not going to go along with the hype that is being portrayed. I am sorry for the people who are infected and those who have lost their lives. How many people in the U.S. have contacted this virus? According to the CDC, 6 Americans have this virus out of 310,000,000 people. Of course anything can happen but you would think the plague was here already. NOT!!!
as of yesterday, in the usa, there are 15 confirmed cases according to the CDC.
"This is a rapidly evolving situation. CDC will continue to update the public as circumstances warrant. For more information about COVID-19 visit www.cdc.gov/covid19."

@sunshine45 And the CDC updates every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
I heard on the news yesterday that the number of cases in the USA was 60.

I am storing canned goods that can be utilized no matter what we learn. I'm also storing some frozen foods in my standing freezer. I do this anyway since we occasionally get "socked in" during the winter. Only difference is that I'll have that frozen food in the freezer all year and pay attention to use by dates. I highly expect this virus to lesson/go away by spring and expect it back next year along with the usual viruses and colds. But of course, we don't know and that's the stress.....

I think it's pretty unlikely that a "miracle" will happen and it will just go away.

This morning the new reported that the current flu strain had a death rate a little over 2 % while the coroniavirus was just over 1%. Would like to know where you got 7 times higher.

I heard it on the news this morning.
I also heard in an interview with Sanjay Gupta that the fatality rate with the flu is .1% and the coronavirus is at least 2% making coronavirus 20 times more deadly than the flu.
