Do you know, or is this a genuine inquiry?

If that is a wood floor, looks to me that something fell off the wall and that was the rusted piece of metal by which the thing was hanging that broke off.

The pointy side looks as though it fits in a hole and the device is used to turn something, a piece of equipment, part of a boat or some other object.

@sunshine45 Kind of hard to discern and a little before my time. However, I'd have to assume it's an antique that's been through tough times, perhaps even a fire. ttherefore, probably missing a piece. You can Google the image to see details of an original.
