Re: What do you think is the difference between HSN & QVC?

I'm not one to watch either channel religiously, just when interested in certain lines or while flipping channels.

I buy from both pretty regularly. I enjoy my HSN experience so, so very much more. Their host and their presentation don't irritate me. I find most HSN host enjoyably and informative to listen to.

I don't notice a difference in audio or video quality. Both are fine and the same as every other channel I receive.

I remember about 12 years ago having this discussion with a friend. I said at that time that I felt QVC host were more professional. Boy have those times changed. Now I can barely watch many of QVC host. Evenings...well forget it.

I like the HSN countdown clock when I know they'll go on to the next product. I like their 5 in 5 deals. I like their product inventory countdown. When HSN says a product is sold out, it's sold out. No popping back into inventory an hour later like with QVC.

I do wish HSN would up their food category. But they were  my first experience with the David's Cookies brand. Found their cheesecake far more to my liking and the type of cheesecake I enjoy over Junior's.

Like others, I appreciate their frequent coupons. Many times I've place things in my Favorites waiting for a coupon to use. Would much rather use a HSN 20% coupon on Kansas City Steak's burgers than buy them from QVC.

Both have most clothing lines that I don't give a second glance, yet there are two lines at each channel to do buy from. Both have cosmetics lines that I no longer follow, but if buying Doll10, I think HSN has better deals.

The few times I've need to contact HSN customer service, they've been beyond pleasant and helpful. At QVC, the few times I've contacted the social team, they've also have been pleasant, helpful and quickly responsive.

[ Edited ]

If I watched like I use to, It would be HSN.  More professinal IMO.

I just go on line if I want something or need something.  Don't watch either one, unless Andrew L. on HSN.  That's about all I buy on their is the vits.

I watched QVC when Joan Rivers and Cathy Levine were on. They were funny.  Beffore online came in.

I mainly watch QVC.

I watch only HSN presentations when interested in a product, they are very

professional and informative.

Certain hosts make QVC a clown show.

Re: What do you think is the difference between HSN & QVC?

In the very early days of home shopping, HSN was downright tacky.  I always felt their hosts were more like carnival barkers.  They've changed through the years and in many ways are just as professional and even maybe more so than QVC.  I still, however, don't like their clothes.  Way back when, their clothing was way too flashy and I couldn't for the life of me figure out who in the world would wear anything they sold.  They've toned down a lot of their selections, but I'm still not a fan.

QVC has also changed through the years and now a lot of it is the younger hosts trying to make everything they sell seem relevant.  I've bought a few of the pieces from KG and found them to be cheaply made. SG and Denim and Co are getting boring with the same old same old.  QVC prices have increased dramatically and with shipping, handling and tax, most items are pushing upwards to triple digits.  I've found much better prices on other websites.

There are also QVC brands I just don't get such as Barefoot Dreams.  It may be soft and cuddly, but what justifies the outrageously high price point?

I don't watch much of either channel and buy very little these days from QVC and far less from HSN. Both were unique in their early days, but nothing really makes them stand out now.

Shoekitty said @Jaspersmom   I don't shop on TV, but I do shop QVC online   I have shopped with qvc since 1989, and just can't bare to watch since 2003. But I buy a few things. I agree however, I can shop anywhere else for less, especially on sale or special discounts , free shipping over a certain amount. and GET FASTER SHIPPING!!

Re: What do you think is the difference between HSN & QVC?

I could have written the exact same first post. I rarely watch HSN and have only ordered a few things over the years. When I do, I feel like they are just selling me stuff. I know that sounds stupid because the QVC hosts are selling me stuff too. I guess I am just more used to QVC.
