Re: What do you replace after you have been sick? Lipsticks?

The TV remote was responsible for me getting terribly ill (ended up in E.R. due to dehydration).   I remember it well, my DH used the remote, then me (as I ate nuts with my fingers) ... two days later, I couldn't "stop" (you know) for 12 hours.   I know 100% when the transmission occurred--I was careless and forgot.

Do not eat with your fingers if ANYONE has the flu or cold at your house~!

if i use nose spray, that is tossed, eye drops is tossed, lipstick (especially if i have cold sore)

i do have a simple stash of cheap lipstick (when i am not feeling well) so i don't have to throw out my expensive lipstick.

I rarely get sick and I think part of the big reason is I immersed myself in chlorinated water 2X a week when I go swimming.

I have a huge investment in lipsticks, so no, they don't get thrown out.  If I'm that sick I wouldn't feel like putting lipstick on anyway, but perhaps a balm for dry lips.  I'm of the opinion you can't "re-catch" the same thing over again.  Would some medical person chime in?  I might take a few swipes around the house with a Clorox wipe to protect other people, not myself.  We believe in flu shots.

In the same article where I read that you should wipe things down you use all the time, it said you cannot catch the same strain of a cold or flu twice.

They did say that it is possible to come down with another strain right after you start to get well so that is why people think they got the same cold or flu.

This. I'm not sharing my lipsticks with anyone else, so I have no reason to throw them out.

I only worry about disinfecting things I share with others. When I was visiting my parents and got sick there, I made sure I used hand sanitizer before I touched any cabinet/door pulls or anything else someone might touch after me. If I forgot to use sanitizer first, I came back around with Lysol or a disinfectant wipe and took care of it after I touched it.

I just toss my toothbrush.  If I had an eye infection ,I would pitch my mascara

If there  are germs on my lipstick, they are mine, and I don't worry about it.

I don't replace anything.  You can't catch the same thing again from yourself.

We use disposable cups in the bathroom and different toothpastes.

@Daisy Sunflower

Thank you - I posted earlier as a reply but it didn't attach to your original reply to me. It is in the thread however!

Again, thank you for your comment!

I'm not tossing my Philips toothbrush head! Those things are expensive. I just disinfect them and I do this even when I'm not sick.
