I haven't been to a Laundromat in 30 some years. I liked nothing about the Laundromat.

The only time I used the laundromat is when I traveled for work for an extended period. I always worried about what was in there before my stuff.

Way back when I used a Laundromat, I felt vulnerable.

nothing to like about the Laundromat....especially didn't like feeling vulnerable around the guys who hung around there with no laundry of their own to do....but have used one many times when it was the only option.

I also hated lugging laundry to the mat. I had to do this when I lived in Pittsburgh, and didn't have a car. UGH! Had to take a bus or streetcar. In the winter months my laundry wouldn't be completely dry and would freeze (didn't trust those over-heated dryers) and everything would be all wrinkled. I did hand-wash my 'unmentionables' at home!
After getting my own washer and dryer, I will NEVER complain about doing the laundry and actually enjoy it! We do take heavy blankets and quilts to a laundro-mat these days, 'tho.

Fortunately, I've never had to use one!
I can't imagine having to hang out there waiting for my clothes....YUK!
Plus, I'm a bit of a germ-o-phobe. I don't want ANY of my stuff rolling around in a container that's housed thousands of other people things...soap, or not. Blech!

I disliked feeding the machine all those quarters.
Also, if I stepped out for a minute, someone else taking my laundry out, or stealing my cart!
For the most part, for me,at that time in my life, it was relaxing. You just had to sit there, and I always bought books and magazines to read.
I was lucky that my laundromat was clean and in a nice place. After, I'd go to the beach!

Personally, I've never understood why people complain about doing their laundry. Its not as if you have to take it down to the river & pound it on rocks. The machines do all the work!
I really don't get it.

ITA with you about this - when people are talking about their machines they use at home!
i could understand having to take clothes somewhere else and sit around waiting hours but at home not a problem. there are cycles on my front loading washer/dryer that can take an hour at least but i put the clothes in and forget about it until it beeps that it is finished. it's not hard at all!
going to a laundromat??? no i would not like that at all!

I had to use one for about 4 months while our ground was frozen this winter. I'm happy that I have a decent one close by but love not having to use it all the time. It's irritating when you have a new washer less than a year old but can't use it because the drainage was frozen.
