Re: What do you do to get the most serene and calm now?

Same as always. Count my blessings, spend time with people I care about, put my energy into changing the things I can change and influencing the things I can influence. Making sure that I am physically safe and adequately removed from anything bad going on in the world. Taking strong action to make sure I'll be fine no matter what happens. Making sure I'm in a position to help others who need it. Helping.

Less time on social media strongly correlates with a better mood for me. Even when I pay a lot of attention to those I agree with, if they're all stressed about a topic -- the stress is catching. Doesn't matter that I feel the same way about the injustice or problem. The stress and upset are catching and I feel my shoulders gradually inching up towards my ears and a tight ball of tension clutching at my stomach. The stress inhibits confidence to act, so it is not a good thing and does nothing to fix any of the problems that upset so many of us.

When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.

It's good to get in bed and turn on a non violent program sometimes public tv and hopefully you will fall asleep.  I don't fill my mind with a lot of gossip or junk so I am calm 99% of the time.  I play with my cat as she always makes me happy.

@CelticCrafter That is funny because I have NO patience for sewing.  But playing the piano?  That's what does it for me.  It's difficult to talk if someone interrupts me while I'm really into a piece.  Do you do that?  My brain goes "Uh Uh Uh. . . huh?"

@Sooner yes, when I'm sewing, multi-tasking is not a thing or an option!

Pray, listen to relaxing music, and watch nature or get out in it.

@qualitygal I was thinking today about how they used to say...."mind over matter". I think that has a lot to do with it. Training the mind to think positive..... and at times...maybe when in a lot of pain either mentally or physically......  ....asking for courage to get through it. It may not work for everyone but it does for me.

I turn on the '90s music channel.  Most of my favorite relaxing songs happen to be from that decade:  "Fly Away" by Lenny Kravitz, "Smooth" by Santana/Rob Thomas, "Only Wanna Be With You"by Hootie and the Blowfish, among others.

Agree that the 90's had some of the best music @LyndaGee .  I like the early 2000's also.  Smooth is one of my all time fav's.
