A gif is a 1-2 second loop. Originally the idea was to create a seamless begin/end for an appearance of an endless loop.
Vine is a 6 second loop.
Instagram not only has pic, but videos of 15 seconds, which are not looped.
Sound Byte (upthread) is well...a sound...audio, not video.

Raven, the key, "looping animation" and then I add the subject worked. Also, the gif works too, but more selections show up with looping animation.
Noel I could be wrong, but vines are a compilation of looping animations....most of the time. I thought vthey were vines as well. That is what I was searching . I did find a couple 10 second ones, but most "vines" I found were 30 mins of 10 second videos. Again, I am not sure if I am totally correct.
Now what in the world does gif stand for? LOL! Been wracking my low tech mind on that one.
Thanks again!

gif........stands for Graphic Interchange Format.........so basically "gif" just means a file type, like Word Doc, jpeg, bit map, png and a host of other file types associated with script and computer use..........which is why I told you to find an animation that repeats itself you needed to look for a looping gif..........because if you look for gif.......you can also pull up static images.............there is a lot more stuff about gif files but I think this will do.....unless you're thinking about doing graphics then there is a whole bunch more to know................................raven

No animation when using Safari right or chrome and an iPad.
Have saved animated gifs to Dropbox from iPad and then placed them using a laptop with success!
have successfully saved, copied and placed animated gifs using laptop from Chrome Google search and Pinterest.
