Re: What did you notice first about DH/SO?

My cousin has the best story.  She was a nurse and was seriously dating a Dr.  a bad breakup so she iook a leave of absence and she & a girlfriend went to Europe.  One day at a cafe in Paris,  two brother from another country,  were sitting across from them. One of the brothers saw my cousin and told his brother "that's the woman I'm going to marry". And he did.  They have been married over 50 yrs.

Re: What did you notice first about DH/SO?

We were in college at the time.  He was dating a friend of mine.  He was taller than me (I was 5'9" tall),  had brown hair and piercing blue eyes.  He had a wicked sense of humor.  I mean wicked in a good way.  My friend called me one day and was devastated.  He had broken up with her.  He called me a couple of days after that and asked me to go out with him.  I resisted for the rest of the semester but that summer he managed to find me.  I was hooked.  Forty-two years and three children later, he still makes me laugh and melts my heart.

Here is my “Cinderella Story.”

We met at our company’s annual business meeting in Key Biscayne, FL.

We were there two days before I even saw him! (and I thought “he’s cute; wonder if he is single?)  He leaned forward at the tables where we were seated and this is when/how I saw him.  He was giving a presentation about leasing “big trucks.”

Next day, I got into the car taking us all to golf; there he was!  He said, “oh, do they ask you why you are still single, too?”

Out on the golf course (I was the ONLY woman in the group) they were all holding their sides laughing because I kept hitting into the swamp (probably alligators).

He took an interest and the rest is romantic and history!❤️❤️

Oh, I forgot! My bad! His EYES!

Both of us went to the parish grammar school.  We were in the same class, K-8. I have no idea why but in 6th grade we became girlfriend and boyfriend.  We continued our relationship until high school graduation when our mothers made us break up.  They used college as an excuse but the real reasons were: my mother thought I could meet a rich boy in college and his mother thought he'd meet a nice Italian girl.

We resumed our relationship after a little over a year. (much to our mothers' dismay)  We will be married 48 years in June.

I guess I thought he was cute. He's still cute but now his most admirable trait is his kindness. He will forever be my knight in shining armour.

I met my husband while away at college. Funny thing...he was from a suburb close to me outside of Chicago.  He was dating another girl that was from my class in high school.  She used to read his romantic letters to a group of us at lunch.  When I ran into him at college in Minnesota, he began to flirt.  I told him that I knew all about him, and was NOT interested. He was persistent, and we have been happily married for almost 50 years.

we were colleagues...I was new hire.  I noticed his distinctive sideburns and smile.  Seems he had grown the sideburns for his hometown bicentennial ( or thereabouts ).  Then his commitment to working full time and going to college full time after his Army service.  He graduated summa sum laude and then was in the top 10 % of his law school class.

going on 51 !

Re: What did you notice first about DH/SO?

Thought he was the cutest guy I'd ever seen.

Cute was HUGE back when I was 17.

Now he's in his 60's and still handsome as ever.

He and our older son, people stare at them--men and women, all ages--where ever they go.

He still makes my heart go fast.Heart

His beautiful eyes! We would pass in the hall in high school, and I just zoned in on those eyes. Had no idea who he was, but I did know his younger sister (he was 2 years ahead of us). He finally approached me and invited me to his sister's 16th birthday party. We were married almost 5 years later, and will celebrate 44 years this November.
