Re: What are your top favorite movies?

@Vivian Florimond wrote:

I just saw one of my favorite movies again on TCM. It's called "I know where I'm going." It is one of the loveliest romances you'll ever see. It's a British film, made in the 1940s. I also love the comedies Young Frankenstein, Mrs. Doubtfire, and the Birdcage. For foreign films, I adore Amélie. I'm sure I left out a few but these are the movies that I can watch over and over again.

I DVR'ed that the other day when it was on TCM - haven't watched it yet.

Ones I can watch over again:

Falling in Love (yes!)

Mildred Pierce

Dark Passage

Shadowlands (I need this on DVD)

QBVII (I have this on DVD)

Laura

The Women (1939)

So many good choices here.

I'm definitely adding some to my Netflix queue, both ones new to me and old familiar ones I haven't seen for a while.

Here are a few more I particularly like:

Something's Gotta Give

It's Complicated

Serenity

Sleepless in Seattle

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (a George Lazenby Bond movie - not really one of the top JB movies but Diana Rigg is in it and she is a favorite)

oops, almost forgot Dark Passage (Bogart/Bacall) - filmed in San Francisco and Marin County (north of SF)

[was Homegirl] Love to be home . . . thus the screen name. Joined 2003.

Four Weddings and a Funeral

The Grand Budapest Hotel

Annie Hall

Hannah and Her Sisters

Midnight in Paris

The Omen (scared the heck out of me and still does)

Most movies with Matthew McConahey (sp?), Jack Nicholson, or Adam Sandler.

My all time favorite is An Affair to Remember.

Re: What are your top favomovies?

Casablanca - For me, lived up to the hype. This dialogue always gives me a tingle, Ilsa to Rick: "If you knew how much I loved you; how much I still love you." (squee!)

Falling In Love - The topic is adultery, but the feeling is bright and sunny instead of dark and tawdry. Meryl Streep's makeup is fantastic. She and DeNiro had great chemistry.

The Heiress - Perfect illustration of karma coming back to bite you. I can still hear Montgomery Clift banging on the door ( to no avail) at the end.

There are others but these are tops.

Oooooh - yes yes yes to Casablanca.  Can't believe that one didn't occur to me when I first posted!
