Re: 📲💻What are your personal "Netiquette" rules?

Don't restart threads that were closed or deleted.

Don't right-fight.

Don't start a completely different topic in the middle of a thread or start up a personal "chat" in the middle of a thread (start another thread instead).

Oh, here's one!!!

There is no need to type an entire paragraph of text and end every single sentence in that paragraph with a series of exclamation points!!! One or half a dozen!!! It doesn't make people pay any more attention to your post except in a very negative way in regard to both intellect and netiquette and forum behavior!!!

Ugh.

Seriously, with the dots!

I've seen some who post everything in one ginormous sentence with a bunch of dots every few words.   This just makes my eyes cross, so I just pass it by as fast as I can.

Is sentence structure another of the things that is not taught in elementary school anymore?

@bri20 @chickenbutt ITA. It might be because they don't know much about sentence structure. But ITA it's hard to read and probably gets skipped over by many who can't read it.

Re: 📲💻What are your personal "Netiquette" rules?

Take a LOOK at your post before you post it. READ through it.

I see a lot of posts that make little sense and kind of read like semi-gibberish, with multiple unconnected thoughts and half-sentences run together or left dangling.  It gives the impression the poster has dipped into the cough medicine a bit too much or has cognition/comprehension issues. Either way, difficult to regard or respond to seriously.

Core ethics and integrity if genuine dictate how we act whether in real life with our real identity out there or on the net when we're behind anonymous nics. If I lower my standards when I'm posting anonymous ....  those lower standards are the real ones imo. Just like the adage 'the test of character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking.' I think true character shows up when hiding behind a anonymous nic.

Amen to that.

Good point @Moonchilde. It's not formal writing here but a quick proofread only takes a couple seconds.
