If I end up at home, Veuve Cliquot will be present either on the 31st or the 1st, for sure.
I have always enjoyed champagne and sparkling wine but stayed in the $12-20 range. Then my gt-niece brought over a bottle of VC one Xmas and she and I were the only ones who consumed. OMG! There is US domestic sparkling methode champenoise, and there is VC! Soooo incredibly delicious I'm spoiled for anything else now.
Oh my goodness @Moonchilde does this bring back memories . . . there was a wine depot/warehouse close to where I lived when I was married and they recommended a then relatively unknown Veuve Cliquot which we used to purchase by the case . . . it makes me smile every time I see a reference to them as they are still my go to bubbly . . . .
@momtochloe not something I would splash out on often, but once in a while it's just delightful. Tonight I'm being cheap & practical Electric Reindeer Rose ;-)
Oh @Moonchilde GET OUT, I love Electric Reindeer Rose . . . tee hee!

My husband and I go out to dinner early New Years Eve. Then we come home and stay home. I watch the ball drop in NYC with Seacrest. My husband probably wont make midnight. (He gets up at 4 AM daily for work, and so he goes to bed at 9).
I might add I miss the days when we did go out because I was a good dancer and loved dancing (before my back issues). And I always wished I was in NYC New Years Eve. But oh well such is life. So I watch it on tv.

We used to go stay in a really nice hotel - sometimes in San Francisco, sometimes in Los Angeles or New York. No driving involved.

I'm pretending that I'm in NY and I'll be in the crowd for the dropping of the ball.
Reality, I'll be in bed asleep. (LW), with my little one snuggling next to me. My husband may have fallen asleep in his lazyboy chair, while trying to watch it all. I'll see it on reruns the next day. LOL

I will be at home with my dog, watching TV. I might make it to midnight. I can't remember the last time I went out on NYE.

Definitely staying at home, relaxing, watching TV. May or may not be asleep by midnight.
I just bought a fondue pot, so I think we're going to break it in for dinner.

We have never gone out for NYE..; ever. MY DH always had to work. The invitations have stopped coming because we have had to decline.
Since we are both retired, we stay home and have a seafood feast for dinner. I go to the local market and buy a little of everything seafood. We crack the night away and our house smells " wonderfully like fish"
it's just nice to finally be able to be together on NYE for a change.

i do love impersonators! some are so good you think you're seeing the real thing.
usually we are in mexico for the holidays and that is a lot of fun. we have two new puppies that are too young to board so we did not go this year. we're going to carmel over christmas where pets are allowed.
nye is another matter. we may go out and may not. this is the time that people who never go out are out there. i've heard it said it's amateur night. lol
to answer your question, lol, we'll play it by ear.

@ladyroxanne this guy was the furthest thing from Elvis you could image. The only thing he got right was his weight
He won some contest in the UK. It must have been judged by someone, who never heard or saw Elvis. Then to be stuck at the same table, was the pits
When he told us proudly he was a minister, and preformed Elvis themed weddings, I nearly laughed. I can't imagine anything more tacky
