nothing could keep me from saving my pets. i would risk everything to get them to safety. if the police tried to stop me, they would have afight on their hands. i realize that sounds terrible, but just because they are the polce doesn't mean they are always right.

I totally agree with your sentiment. I'm just saying that all the plans in the world won't necessarily jibe with what can happen during certain fires that just blow up and grow exponentially with no warning.

All situations are not the same. Perhaps some would give their lives to try to save their animals. That is an individual choice. I personally will never judge those who felt that they simply could not do so because of the circumstances.

@Katcat1 and others: I was thinking about the animals too. I just can't imagine how scared they are, not knowing what to do or where to go and I'm sure they have good instinct, but what if they can't get out of the path of the fire or get overwhelmed by smoke! It makes me sad thinking about how confused they are. I just want to be able to save them all.

Instincts drives them. They can get away fairly quickly. Animals have speed and the tremendous fear of fire gets them to safety. That creates the adrenaline to get them under their legs very quickly. Even pets.

Remember the Tsunami in Asia on Christmas Day some years back? Animals reacted much more quickly then humans. People died on the beaches, and the animals were almost a mile further inland alive and well.

This photo was from one of our recent Colorado wildfires. The momma bear died in the fire and one of her cubs was found in the burning embers with burnt paws wandering around. The cub is now at a rescue facility for wildlife. Heartbreaking.
