Re: What a "eerie" feeling at mall today...

Makes me sad, who doesn't love a mall.  Love going with my daughters and granddaughters, looking for a bargain having lunch and enjoying the day. Before the shut downs, my daughter and I were driving around to all the small shops here in there the small strip malls, traffic was backed up everywhere people going here and there. We need to go back to having malls ,there was a purpose to them. Plus no matter what the weather you could park your car one time and spend the day shopping your heart out

@happycat

Speaking of Home Goods specifically they should have remained closed...our store is full of empty shelves after they cleared out the Easter/Spring things at 80-90% off.

The store manager told us no new shipments most likely til August or depending on shipments coming in & shippers.

Kohl's and other stores are the same.  Stores are bare with both merchandise and shoppers.☹️

Re: What a "eerie" feeling at mall today...

I'm  not a mall shopper but I've gotten phenomenal deals on line during lockdown.

Johnny Was - 70% sale and then a 30% coupon

Earth Shoes - 75% off sale

Talbots,  Lands End - phenomenal deals also.  Pima cotton for $8-$12, shirts and blouses for $15 and under, it was nuts.

Even Needless Markup had some good sale prices.

I think everything was bought up!

Re: What a "eerie" feeling at mall today...

You couldn't pay me to go in any mall at this time, mask or not.  Outdoor maybe, but I wouldn't want to go in the stores. Lol!   What I have heard  is that it is going to be slim fall and spring 2021 seasons.  Those that ordered summer in December and January May some offerings.  Most stores didn't go to fashion  saws that sell each season.  Buyers were not able to buy much.  Then manufacturing came to stand still overseas.  Even more so in America.

the stores are hurting big time.  The rents in those malls is expensive.  I know of a kiosk in a Westfield mall in California paint almost 10,000 a month for rent.also when stores are in bankruptcy designer hold back and limit purchases with a shorter payment period. It doesn't do much for salads.

my granddaughter was so lucky to purchase her wedding dress at Grace Loves Lace the last week of feb.  we had just got wind of Covid, but had no idea it would grow so quick.  We didn't  even think the stores would close,  then a week later here in California, there were rumors, and boom March 12 everyone was sent home or told t not show up to work.  It was quick.   Her wedding dress is made in Australia.  They were not in lockdown, so they contued to sew.  She has last measurements tomorrow at store and they mail by end of August.  Her wedding is nov 6... I heard the dresses ordered in the states are not coming, were cancelled or will be late.  Yes, they do make tons of wedding dresses here in US,

Read all your posts, so it made me wonder, how will all this affect Christmas? I have only been to grocery stores, but have Summer bought clothing online. But I love Christmas shopping and maybe it won't be the same this year. I never imagined we'd still be in this during Summer.

I'm headed to the mall Saturday because I have a hair appointment.  The Aveda salon I go to is in the mall.  I'm curious to see how crowded it is.  It is in Honolulu, & without tourists I have a feeling it will be pretty slow.  It makes me wonder how many will go out of business permanently.

I agree, I order a lot online, but I also return a lot .....I like to be able to see things in person.

Re: What a "eerie" feeling at mall today...

We went to outlet shoppes in OKC.  I wanted to go to the 75% annual sale at Bath body works.  The line was long wrapped around the building.  Only a few entered at a time.  No one wearing a mask except the employees.  I didn't want to stand there in the heat so we left.
