What a horrible weather night

About 2:15 a.m.  I hear wind howling, pouring rain and for Tx. that's rare and then hail !  Hailing like h*ll !!

Jumped up thinking it was a tornado and turned on TV to the National Weather channel and they said strong thunderstorms, heavy rain and hail.   At least no tornado. Just suppose to last 20 minutes.

First thing in morning ran out and did a house check, no windows broke, roof still on.  Debris all over the yard. Vinyl patio fence took some licking. Thank the Lord I'd had a steel skylight guard put on skylight. Few hail balls still laying up there.

Another round is coming thru my part of Tx. between  5 and 6. Hopefully, no hail !

Oh, my goodness! I am in Northeast Texas, but we haven't had any bad weather yet. I hear it may hit here tonight. Two months ago, we had an awful hail storm pass through that did a lot of damage to homes.

Yikes @SharkE !  That is some crazy weather.  Good you have the protectors on the skylight.

This May & June has had some scary weather.  We had tornadoes in Denver metro area yesterday or day before, they were angled and didn't touch ground luckily.

With hail storms I always think the windows are going to blow, so fierce!  Good you didn't have any damage except sounds like the fence look a bit of a beating hope not too bad.

Re: What a horrible weather night

Last night was the first night I've slept in several nights.  It has been either storming like crazy, tornado sirens going off, about to storm or tornado, or waiting on storms to come in ALL NIGHT.

We're under the gun again today, everything is waterlogged, flooded or washed out, and people are cranky and sleep deprived and mean!  Sick of it.

Blessed to still have our house unlike many.  Pray for all under this weather!

[ Edited ]

I usually find stormy weather lulls me to sleep, but not tornado and hail weather! I never really knew what the Texas rainstorms were like until we were driving from Memphis to Dallas last year. We were on a road trip to my brother's house from PA, and we hit some apocalyptic weather! We get some pretty wild storms in PA, but those Texas sized storms are a whole different level. God Bless!

Re: What a horrible weather night

@SharkE  Please stay safe!

I'm watching storm chasers in TX right now - a couple of them are in Dalhart,TX,  Parnell,TX, Memphis,TX , Aspermont, TX, Turkey TX - and Bartletsville, OK and Joplin, MO, even one in Butler, PA. I've never heard of most of those TX places LOL.

They're all expecting heavy weather tonight with storms and possible Derecho winds and/or tornadoes. Hopefully they will never develop. I remember when a derecho went through Iowa and all the destruction it caused. I had to look it back up just now:

"A derecho is a powerful, straight-line windstorm caused by a long-lived bow echo or squall line of thunderstorms, often spanning hundreds of miles. It's characterized by strong, damaging winds, typically 58 mph or greater, and a wide path of damage, usually at least 400 miles long and 60 miles wide."

This is a screen grab from last Friday nights storms near Lubbock that was awe inspiring (in a scary way):
