@RainCityWoman wrote:Mainly, my parents and my grandmother always believed in me and encouraged me to do my best. Inadvertently through their own actions, they instilled a sound respect for paying bills, keeping your word, and living within your means. However, my dad's sister's repeatedly advice to me as life went on, was "roll with the punches." Life can knock you down, and you have to be strong enough to rise above it.
@RainCityWoman Welcome!🥰 I LOVE your dear aunt's EXCELLENT advice, and WHOLEHEARTEDLY concur!❤

My dear grandmother would tell us that every shut eye "aint" sleep when she thought we might be up to mischief!🥰 I did not fully understand until much later that it meant MUCH more!😁❤

Most of what I learned came from how my parents lived and treated others rather than pithy sayings.
I learned to save and manage my money wisely. I remember my dad sat at the kitchen table and wrote numbers and figures in his little budget notebook. He opened savings accounts for us as children. He also was very organized and detailed. I definitely got those traits.
Both my parents stressed the importance of education and a faith life. They paid our way through college so we could concentrate on our studies. We went to Sunday mass together and prayed as a family in our home. My parents were very generous in volunteering their time and talents to our church, school, family, friends, and neighbors. They helped lots of people over the years.

@wilma Welcome!🥰 Awww! Reading this post wrapped a bow around my heart!💝 I think it is WONDERFUL that you had such a LOVING and STRONG faith based foundation, upon which to draw upon! So MANY people are not as fortunate!❤ My dear grandmother did the same with everyone, and instilled in me good Christian values that served me well, especially after I had a ROUGHHH few years from trauma in my adulthood!🥰 I would not be who I am today without it. It was those values that put me back on the right path!❤ She would still offer her sage advice and share her wisdom to any and everyone, and I am MOST grateful for it.😊
THANK you SO much for caring to share this afternoon!🤗
