Hi esme and Irish, Smiley Happy

I am well aware of Margaret Sangers shortcomings /failings/faults during the years she was alive. Some were no different than others living during that time in our history.

I am also well aware of her progressive, for the times, thinking about women and control over their own bodies.

Was she perfect? Not by a long shot. No one on the list is perfect. Neither are the current men on our currency. For some, there are better choices.

From the list provided, she would be my choice, warts and all.

Enjoy your Saturday. Smiley Happy

I don't agree with your choice (I think others are MORE worthy), but I admire the way you have defended Sanger here.

Thanks for adding to the dialogue.

Re: What Woman Should be on the Twenty?

Eleanor Roosevelt was my first thought, so I'll go with that.

Why are they replacing Andrew Jackson?

Re: What Woman Should be on the Twenty?

She does not seem to be a good candidate.

The title of this article is misleading. Sanger was an advocate of women having the right to birth control. An important reason for this was the unsafe abortions that women who had no access to birth controls were using as a last resort. She was not an "abortion activist", far from it.

As to her views on eugenics, they are indefensible.

I don't think she should be on our currency, but I don't think her views should be misrepresented in sensational headlines.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

Here's the website for voting:

Meet the Candidates

"Below are 15 candidates for you to consider in this first Primary Round of voting. You may vote for 3 on the ballot. The top 3 vote-getters will advance to the Final Round. When that begins, you may return and vote again.

<p class="p1">These candidates were chosen from a field of 30 through a vigorous survey process involving more than a dozen women’s historians and academicians."

alice paul salutes you! thank you for posting the link.

You're welcome, eve!

I think the website helps explain the campaign.

And there actually are 15 candidates on the ballot.
