Looks never mattered to me. Healthy habits is what I like. Have you ever kissed a handsome ashtray mouth? I also like hardworking and some ambition. Hardworking beats intellegence as I know a lot of lazy smart people. Must love animals.

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.

@Nancy Drew Exactly right!! This describes my DH perfectly. He's very hardworking, intelligent and ambitious like I am among other things. This is what my parents could not see. He loves animals too!!

It's not where you are but where you're headed especially when you're young. I was an anomaly; financially independent at 18. Very unfair comparison.

Your mother didn't really say that did she?
She actually did say it! She wanted me to find someone with good qualities instead of someone who was just a pretty face with nothing to offer.

Ok that's not what I got from reading that passage.

Because it says " he can be abusive to you, but as look ( was that a typo for long?) as he's handsome. When I read it sounds like she's saying, just find a cute guy, who cares how we treats you.

Among many of the fine qualities listed upthread, Emotional Generousity.

Interestingly, most cheapskates are emotionally withholding and not generous in spirit.

Oh yeah ..... he must be a Cat Person ...... or become one.
