There was a little girl
Who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good
She was very, very good
But when she was bad
She was horrid!

The Bloomingdale's ad thread does contain some interesting points. I saw the ad as creepy for sure, but . . . some people must have 10-30 posts, all saying the same thing.
The BB was not like that a while ago, though it became that way shortly before June's changeover, and it still happens occasionally on here.
Carpet bombing with a single viewpoint is a way to stifle discussion just as much as nasty attacks.
Of course in a heated discussion people might want to contribute several times. But people colonize/monopolize threads sometimes with their viewpoint. This behavior doesn't have the intention to hurt the way snark does, but it still knocks the conversation over by quashing the conversation and trying to limit it to their viewpoint. I can't plod through a thread where the same three viewpoints are repeated almost endliessly. Life is too short.
But I would point out that simply repeating the same point over and over does nothing to advance a conversation, and does much to drive real exchanges away.

That seems to be the purpose.

I find I have a great deal of difficulty just thinking up something to post about. Everything is off limits or just not acceptable to discuss, and I am not just referring to the Q.

Isn't that just a reflection of the current society? Everybody is offended about something, most of it being petty. I just don't get it. My philosophy is to live and let live. I don't really care what other people think, say or do, as long as it doesn't actually harm someone. I'm definitely getting more mellow, while society is going in the other direction, I think.

I think you're right and I agree. I have always felt the same way.

"Was the Nativity in December or in April"?
This caught my eye because I had never heard of the idea that His birth was in April! Learned something new!
There are many Christians (sometimes called Messianics or referred to as the Jewish Roots Movement) who believe that His birth coincides with Sukkot and that the so-called "manger" was actually the innkeeper's Sukkot. This would occur in Sept/Oct.
Here's hoping my response does not blow up the thread...it was not posted with that intention.

********* That is one of the creepiest shows that I have ever seen. I hated the ending.
