What Steven Spielberg Said About the Surge in Antisemitic Incidents

His comments on the increasing number of antisemitic acts starts at 5:48 on the video.  Very thoughtful and insightful statements.  Great interview, by the way.

It's frightening and quite sad to see our country going backwards!

I watched the interview with Mr. Spielberg.  He seems such a gentle soul that is doing what he loves.  He said "E.T." was a perfectly-made film, and I agree.

It certainly is, Jane Marple.  Through the years, we have heard many times that "freedom isn't free."  Speaking for myself, I have started to fully understand what is meant by that now, after all the strikes against freedom and personal dignity that have taken place.

I have never understood hate for hate's sake.  I am a little younger than Mr. Spielberg and agree that I've never seen anti-Semitism and hate directed at other groups as overt as it is now.  There are many reasons for it and I won't bring up topics that will definitely get this deleted, but it's scary to know that some people think acting on their hate is okay.  No, it's not.

Re: What Steven Spielberg Said About the Surge in Antisemitic Incidents

Both of my parents were born in the 1920's and I loved their stories from the "old days", the things that they witnessed in their lives growing up were unimaginable to me. Antisemitism, Jim Crow, Japanese internment camps, separate schools, hospitals etc.

They both would be horrified to know that many of these things are back and out in the open.

Re: What Steven Spielberg Said About the Surge in Antisemitic Incidents

It was an interesting interview.  I do believe most folks are good.

I think folks who are unhappy tend to seek out others of the same opinion.  Once they get together, they have to have someone else or some other group of people to blame.  So they choose a target to blame and it makes them feel better about themselves. They then focus their dislike toward this group and sometimes this situation becomes so toxic it results in the harm of innocent people.  (short explanation)

@Kalli Your post is insightful and well-stated.  I agree about finding target to blame.

There's an increase of Christians being targeted as well. No matter who it is, all of it is wrong and has no place anywhere.

Its sickening to have antisemitic acts rear their ugly heads again.

Its sad to say that as long as human's walk this earth there will be hate of all kinds.  I do not believe any of it will ever be non existant.
